NEXT SUNDAY IS MOTHER'S DAY!

Did that title give you a start? I don't know about you, but the nearness of the day surprised me when I realized that fact just a few days ago...even though I've celebrated it with my family the 2nd Sunday of May for a million years now and I've been a mother for nearly half that time.

So have you thought about how you're going to celebrate your mother? Have you considered gift options?

Not to worry, we can help!

No, really. We can.

Once again, we're offering up some fabulous items for auction. We're going to keep the length of the auctions shorter this week so folks can get the items in time for Mother's Day.

We'll be offering several items that Jim brought back from his recent Thailand trip including jewelry, salt-and-pepper shakers, scarves, and sachets plus a few other things. Now you don't have to buy the items for your mother, you can buy them for yourself or as wedding, graduation, or birthday gift. Or you can point your kids this way and tell them to buy you something for your Mother's Day gift.

Whatever reason you buy them, you can buy them knowing that all the proceeds will go towards helping two amazing teenagers go on mission trips --- trips that God will use to change them and change the world around them. In case you don't know from past blog posts, our 17 year old daughter Anna will be going to Thailand to minister to prostitutes and other people related to the sex tourism industry. Our 14 year old son David will be going to the Amazon rain forest in Peru to do evangelistic outreaches, feeding programs for the poor and hungry, and church ministry.

They both need a couple of thousand dollars a piece more before they leave in June and so many people are graciously donating items and services to help them raise their needed funds.

Our first donation is an especially yummy one from an especially supportive and talented sister in the Lord.

Melanie Moak is a woman known among her circle of friends and her church family as a woman who can cook! In fact, she cooks for her church's Wednesday night meals and receives plenty of compliments and recipe requests as a result of her culinary efforts. Melanie donated a meal to be auctioned off during our last round of online-auctions and is once again stepping up to support my kids' mission efforts.

Last time she offered the options of lasagna or poppy seed chicken. This time she's offering a meal that consists of smoked pork loin, homemade mac & cheese, green beans, and bread pudding or hot pineapple casserole.

She can deliver the meal any day but Sunday. She will need 48-72 hours notice for the delivery date. The winning bidder should live in Brookhaven, Jackson, or immediate surrounding areas.

The bidding will start at $20. That's quite a deal for a full meal that you don't have to do any work to enjoy! It is also a great deal for a Mother's Day gift and one that Mom will appreciate. We will offer a gift certificate for the winner to print out and present to their mother or wife if it is being bid on for a gift.

If you would like to bid on this meal, leave a comment with the amount of your bid as well as your contact information. If you are not able to leave a blog comment, you can email me at jimelm "at" windstream "dot" net or contact me via facebook.

The bidding will start now and end on Thursday at 5:00 so if this is a Mother's Day gift, the winner has time to factor this into the Mother's Day gift plans.

Thanks for visiting Graceland and let the bidding begin!
