Betsie arrived home from MUW this afternoon with a million great stories about her weekend at the Hearin Leadership Conference. While there, she participated in various leadership training activities as well as just having some crazy fun such as the Karaoke night and learning to juggle.
Thanks for all of you who prayed for her scholarship interview. She feels like she did really well and today, she won the "Most Outstanding Student" award from her small group leaders.
Betsie's leadership skills are being recognized at her future college, my beloved alma mater, which of course just makes me proud as can be. If she gets a Hearin scholarship based on her leadership experience and potential, that monetary award will help her get to college and follow the dream of becoming as teacher in a cross-cultural setting.
Today, we heard a bit of other good news. Betsie has been chosen by Metro Christian Living Magazine as one of their 2013 Christian Leaders of the Future. She will attend a leadership event at Belhaven University in March and during a reception, that we and other guests can attend, they will announce the winners of a scholarship that can be used at any college.
Whether she scores that scholarship or not, she's definitely a winner to this mama. I am so thankful to the Lord that she truly is already an amazing young woman leading others to live in His love and grace.
