WANNA GO TO AFRICA???

I just received via email today notification of any amazing trip opportunity. Adventures in Missions is forming a team to go to Swaziland, Southern Africa, June 27, 2009 to July 6, 2009 . It's open for adults, ages college level and up. The team will be working at various carepoints feeding orphans, doing Bible activities, playing with the kids, etc. I would absolutely LOVE to go but the dates do not work for us. That said, it is a fantastic price, AIM is an incredible organization, and if you go, I can guarantee that it will hugely minister to a lot of little orphans plus change your heart and your world forever!

Here are the details as they were sent to me:

We are planning another adult mission trip to Swaziland. More info about this trip is below. This trip can be found online at: http://www.adventures.org/a/trips/level3/2742.htm

The cost of the trip is $850 per person plus airfare.

Please continue to read below for info from Chris Basden, our staff contact for this trip.

The first deadline for our Swaziland trip passed on the 1st of March and application and deposit is necessary to secure your spot. I currently have approximately 45 individuals that have expressed interest, but only a few that have placed deposits. This trip must have at least 20-25 participants to operate and cannot exceed 50. I would like to hear from you as soon as possible. If you have not spoken with me yet, please do before you complete the initial application/registration.

One of our participants asked about bringing supplies to Swaziland with them. Upon checking with our staff, here are suggestions of things to bring:

School supplies - no books
Items for women - toiletries ie lotions, soaps, etc.
Shoes

Another participant asked about documents (passport, etc) for Swaziland. You need a valid passport with empty visa pages. You will receive a via when you arrive in South Africa that is valid for 90 days and when you arrive in Manzini, a visa will be given for 60 days.

I also want to encourage you to check out this blog by Seth Barnes (executive director and founder of AIM) that will give you a very clear idea of what is going on in the Nsoko area, which is where you will be ministering.

We also have a monthly e-newsletter about Nsoko and our ministry there. We'd like to invite you to subscribe to monthly newsletter about Nsoko and our ministry there as well.
If you want to subscribe, you can e-mail DonorRelations@adventures.org and ask to be subscribed to the Nsoko Updates.

As I get more information on ministries in Swaziland for your trip, I will pass it on. Currently the focus will remain to be with our "carepoints", the places where orphans can come for teaching, food, clothing and love. We are also still discussing the adults w/AIDS that need ministering to as well. Please continue to pray about where the Lord would have you serve; I'll pray as well. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Blessings
Chris

BTW, the top photo is of Jennifer Hagerty, one of the amazing women I traveled to Swaziland with last January. The bottom photo is of Kriek Gerber. She and her husband are on staff with Adventures in Missions and minister to the carepoint children in Swaziland.
