Wednesday afternoon, we loaded up the van and headed to Birmingham where we spent the night with a Five in a Row homeschool family.
After an all-too-short visit with the Unsell Family...
...it was time to load up again and head north. This time we were heading back to Nashville and Camp Electric where we picked up David. He had a great week and left even more committed to developing the talent and passion God has planted in him for the guitar and worship.
And because we could just as easily drive through Memphis than go back through Birmingham, that's the route we chose. We stopped for several hours and did some fun touristing. I know that's not a real word, but it works. Jim took David and Desmond to the Gibson Factory Retail Center and the Rock and Roll Museum while I took Merry, Travis, and Laura to see the Peabody ducks, explore the Fire Museum, and ride the trolley. Then we all shopped in A. Schwab's on Beale Street before a huge supper at Kooky Kanuke's (did I spell that right?) and some more time in the Peabody before heading home to Mississippi.
It was a fun mini-vacation but this tired mama (and papa) were glad to get home.
Be it ever so messy, there's no pace like home.
